The Pretenders: F. Sionil Jose (Eye Opener)

F. Sionil Jose created a wonderful story that serve as an EYE OPENER for us Filipinos on how we deals with money and power in this days. The goes with the man "Antonio Samson" the guy who was able to change their lives through the help of education. And then he marry a rich and luxurious woman "Carmen Villa".

This novel used a very special symbol or thing which is "money". Money sybolizes power, authorithy, invulnerability. etc... (whateverr.. hehehe) And this were the story goes round about power. At the story it was shown and told there the status of their living. Tony and his family are simple, they eat frogs for food. And then they even had a misuderstanding with the rich man so they they decided that Tony will get married to Carmen Villa to get some paybacktime with the rich man. And this shows here that the poor has nothing due he has no money. And it shows here that money has the power, if you have it you got the authority. And it also shows here on how we deals with political power, which was shown by Don Manuel.
